Environmental Advisor needed for a 6 month contract for my Government client based in Wiltshire.

Currently there are 46 elements of Environmental and Sustainability legislation impacting on the organisation, and although in some areas Defencem, exemptions may apply, this legislative challenge is increasing and my client, therefore has the task of determining the most appropriate mechanism for the effective delivery of its Environmental commitments both in the short term and ensuring that the team is suitably structured to effectively deliver longer term requirements. This contractor will therefore assist the extant Environmental resource and SHEF management in planning and delivering a programme that includes the following challenges, and to determine more clearly the most suitable resource requirement for the future.

The job role includes the following:
-To monitor, inspect, audit and record the environmental impact and risk of the clients work and ensure continuing compliance against ISO 14001 and maintain standards across the organisation to protect the organisations accreditation.
- To review the increasing requirement for Environmental permits and identify effective processes for managing their use to the benefit of the organisation.
- To understand the environmental impact on the Porton Range as a result of 'open releases' to ensure continuing national and international capability is not compromised.
- Support to the HELIOS relocation programme - site remediation at FHD and incorporating new requirements at PTN and PDW within Environmental standards
- Standardisation of approach to Environmental responsibilities such as waste, protection of site, legislative compliance and compliance with Sustainability targets in areas such as water use, energy, natural resources and impact on local communities

For this role, the candidate MUST have the following:

  • NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental management IEMA status
  • Management to ISO14001 standards Knowledge of estates and/or land stewardship management Knowledge of up to date Environmental legislation

For this role, the candidate must be SC Cleared
