Materials Manager

Location of work: Acton Depot

Candidate

To be able to interpret Signal Design Issues and cross reference them with Project Material Schedules (PMS) to ensure that the later provides sufficient equipment to cover the requirement within the design.

  • Control the Units storage area's to ensure high standards of housekeeping and security are maintained.
  • Act as a point of liaison between operational staff and Project Engineer's on material issues
  • Act as a point of liaison between Project Engineer's and the various Project Teams and Design areas on materials issues.

Duties

  • Provide input into the estimating process on the cost of materials
  • Provide input into the planning process on the lead in time of materials, particularly long lead items
  • Maintain agreed stock levels of consumable item within the Units storage areas and report on usage in financial and quantitative terms
  • Manage any 'free issue' material provided by Projects ensuring that it is only issued to the relevant project
  • Liaise with Procurement on the purchase of 'non-stocked items'
