Communications Specialist - 6 Month contract - Sunbury

My client a leading FTSE 100 energy company with offices in Sunbury is looking to recruit a Communications Specialist on an initial 6 month contract. The successful candidate will work closely with the Communications Lead, Change Management and programme leadership team to develop and execute communications plans in support of programme delivery and to ensure on-going engagement and commitment from key stakeholders across the business.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Creating high-quality communications materials for use by the programme team to engage stakeholders effectively
  • Managing shared channels including an Intranet and dedicated programme team space, in line with documentation storage and archive standards
  • Producing content to communicate the programme's progress, leveraging existing channels across the business and ensuring content is aligned with business and functional communications objectives
  • Building proposals to implement new, innovative communications channels using a mix of tactics including video, collaboration tools and creative graphic solutions
  • Stakeholder mapping and engagement planning/tracking to facilitate change management
  • Developing programme branding and ensuring all communication adheres to standards
  • Crafting a monthly programme executive report to communicate updates, risks, milestones, issues, etc to key sponsors of the programme
  • Working with stakeholders across the business to achieve sign-off of core materials
  • Ensuring all communications activity is appropriately segmented and aligned to approved messages and mitigating any associated risks by enforcing communications policies (for example, non-disclosure agreements)
  • Developing and owning meeting agendas and coordinating large workshops for the programme
  • Working with programme leads to respond in a timely manner to enquiries sent to the programme mailbox
  • Ad hoc activities as required to enable delivery of the overall communications and engagement strategy

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience in a similar role, with strong emphasis on content development
  • Journalistic, with a proven ability to translate programme activities/objectives/benefits into meaningful messages that resonate with multiple, diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience in navigating complex organisational structures
  • Familiar with the principles of good knowledge management
  • Strong proficiency in SharePoint 2010, website construction and Microsoft Office applications
