The Talmadge Group is seeking a Senior Microsoft SQL Database Administrator for an awesome opportunity with our team! The SQL Database Administrator will provide expert support for production development and test environment databases with respect to installation, availability, reliability, and integrity. You will partner closely with Operations, Applications, and Engineering teams to design, implement, and operationalize scalable applications and infrastructure. You will also provide technical leadership to Application developers in database capabilities and features, build efficient queries, be in charge of database design and problem resolution. Finally you will also coordinate production database deployment including tasks to promote database objects between environments (eg, test to production) in support of application requirements.

Required Skills and Experience:
- 10+ years of Microsoft, MS SQL and IT industry experience in a mission critical, 24/7 production environment
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) SQL Server 2012 - exam 461, 462, 463
- Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, object-oriented technology, data warehousing, EMC storage technologies and practices, and relational database engines
- Advanced experience working with Oracle 9.x through 11.x
- Advanced proficiency in analytical, project planning, negotiating, interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong ability to lead and influence in a technical lead role
- Expert in providing high availability, failover and disaster recovery procedures and automation
- Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve concurrency, blocking and locking, and provide auditing
- Experience with monitoring technologies

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide expert support for production development and test environment databases with respect to installation, availability, reliability, and integrity
- Partner closely with Operations, Applications, and Engineering teams to design, implement, and operationalize scalable applications and infrastructure
- Provide technical leadership to Application developers in database capabilities and features, build efficient queries, database design, Problem Resolution, and the use of database utilities
- Coordinate production database deployment including tasks to promote database objects between environments (eg, test to production) in support of Application requirements
- Create complex new databases and Application database objects (tables, indexes, procedures, etc.), and as requirements change, update data structures/objects in existing databases
- Drive continuous improvement of applications and infrastructure through the organization to ensure optimal operations, performance, and stability of services
- Provide expert support for analysing platform-level configuration and performance issues
- Define and promote standard operating procedures of database design, deployment and automation, performance tuning and analysis, operational management of applications.
- Determine and implement appropriate database backup and recovery strategies, including decisions regarding frequency of backup and procedures for recovering Application database changes
- Work with responsible applications personnel, coordinate testing of new DBMS releases and upgrades from an Applications perspective
- Perform database disk space capacity planning for production Application databases to meet initial installation and growth requirements as forecast by Applications; reallocate as necessary.
- Perform all required tasks related to database patch management
- Develop and maintain utilities to automate problem determination, change implementation, and monitoring activities
- Optimize database performance by tuning and reorganizing production databases as needed
- Maintain database privileges for all objects, and work with security administrators in defining security groups known to external security packages
