Description
This leading Australian company are currently looking for an experienced Network Architect to lead an exciting new project. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and documenting complex network architectures that meet the evolving requirements of the organisation.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in IT concentrating in networking technologies coupled with tertiary level qualifications in Computer Science, Technology or a related discipline.
- Experience in major network transformation programs is highly desirable
- Experience in major data centre transformation or consolidation programs a plus
- Relevant industry certifications including Juniper JNCIE, Cisco CCIE and specialist training that covers OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP, STP, MPLS, VPNs, Ethernet, etc.
- WAN acceleration certifications with vendors such as Riverbed or Cisco
- Current hands-on experience with networking products
- Security Certifications
- Voice/Video Over IP certifications such as Avaya
- Load Balancing including F5 (Big IP)
Protocols
- Advanced knowledge of protocols including BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, IGRP and EIGRP
- Strong IPV4 skills - IPV6 a plus
- Advanced knowledge of Spanning Tree protocols
- Knowledge of redundancy and high availability protocols such as VRRP, HSRP, GLBP, LACP
- Knowledge of WAN technologies
- Knowledge of virtualisation and storage area networks
Technologies
- Advanced knowledge of network virtualisation technologies including MPLS, VRF, VLAN, VSS, Catalyst Switch Stacking, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of tunnelling protocols including IPSEC, GRE, L2TPv3
- Advanced knowledge of Quality of Service
- Experience with VOIP components and converged networks
- Experience with network security standards
Responsible for
- Designing, implementing and documenting complex network architectures that meet the evolving requirements of the organisation.
Activities
- Lead Network Transformation Projects from a technical perspective working with project managers, vendors and internal staff to deliver the required outcomes
- Define, design and document the network architecture within guidelines set by the organisation
- Provide advice and recommendations specific to network requirements
- Evaluate the potential of new products to enhance existing network services
- Produce solutions architectures that are aligned to requirements and strategic direction
- Work (hands-on) with other SMEs and technical support teams in the implementation of the solutions
- Produce and/or endorse network standards
- Develop technical reports outlining decision points, options and recommendations
- Ensure all policies, including Business Management System and Security policies and procedures are adhered to
- Ensure Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to
