Engineering Manager - Dorset - (Contract) £D.O.E.

Role Overview:
The role is to provide senior engineering practice, management and leadership to the team. The role would ideally suit a professional engineer with a minimum of 10 years experience in managing the design, development and manufacture of electronic communications based ancillary systems; preferably for both military and civil applications.
This role is vital to the strategic development and growth of the group, especially as they look to gain market share in new sectors.
Leading the engineering team, the role will involve developing new markets through technology led activities. You will need experience in managing engineering developments and be able to demonstrate a breadth of knowledge across a range of sectors and technologies related to antenna market sector.
Intimate familiarity with both practical electronic design and engineering governance is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Management
Responsible for all engineering outcomes on projects, with a strong emphasis on time, cost and quality factors. The EM is a Control Account Manager and must manage the applied engineering resources. Managing and controlling project engineering ensuring process adherence and governance.

Technical Leadership
As a respected engineer you will provide guidance on design matters and will be sufficiently
experienced to support the strategic development beyond their traditional market space.

Customer Liaison
It is essential that you have good customer facing skills as there will be the need to present on technical aspects to a wide range of customer groups.

Bid Support Activities
Primarily writing technical proposals, but also estimating engineering costs and timescales on a variety of system activities.

Technical Reporting
To produce professional engineering documentation in accordance with engineering governance requirements.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Professional/Educational qualifications
* An engineering degree - essential
* Chartered status - highly desirable

Prior experience required
* A proven track record of successful Engineering Management (time-cost-quality) - essential
* At least 5 years experience in the design of electronic systems - essential
* Good theoretical knowledge of the development life cycle - essential
* Experience of taking a wide range of products from R&D into production - essential
* Ability to lead a team of engineers - essential
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business - essential
* Bid support and the writing of technical proposals - essential
* Engineering experience in Radio based systems - desirable
