MECHANICAL DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER £25 Per Hour!

Autodesk Inventor 3D, AutoCAD, FMEA, FEA, Cosmos Mechanical Development Engineer

A strong preference will be given to candidates with a good degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or closely related courses.

Essential Experience:

Autodesk Inventor 3D, AutoCAD, FMEA, FEA, Cosmos
One or more year's experience working with multidisciplinary teams, to design and develop mechanical components and systems, within the research/development department of a commercial company.
Experience of low to medium volume product development for industrial applications, with a proven track record of delivering cost effective design work to agreed timescales.
Experience of using AutoDesk Inventor to produce 3D models, detail component drawings, and assembly drawings

Desirable Experience:
One or more years experience designing sheet metal welded fabrications and precision machined components. Knowledge of plastic injection moulding, aluminium extrusion design and pneumatic systems would be advantageous.
Experience of using AutoDesk Mechanical Desktop to produce 3D models, detail component drawings, and assembly drawings is also advantageous.
Experience of hygienic design and an understanding of suitable materials, manufacturing techniques and assembly principles for the food or pharmaceutical industry.
An understanding of FMEA, Design For Manual Assembly, and Value Analysis Value Engineering techniques.
Familiarity with FEA tools (preference being given to a candidate with experience of Cosmos Design Star).

Responsibilities & Duties:
Work with a multidisciplinary team to design and develop mechanical components and systems that meet agreed functional specifications.
Design, draw, test, and assemble the developed mechanical components and systems, whilst adhering to agreed standards, eg BS8888 (incorporates BS308) and ISO9001:2000.
Will be responsible for the design and development on specific projects and ensuring that the project is delivered within an agreed cost and timetable.
Produce mechanical 3D models, detail component, and assembly drawings using an
appropriate CAD.
Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate designs with respect to their failure modes, ease of assembly, cost, and design safety (risk).
If required use finite element analysis tools to verify designs prior to manufacture.
Provide support and advice to internal customers and departments. Managing assigned design change requests and enhancements.
