Phsyical Layer Test Engineer for WCDMA

Job description:
Do you want to work in an international environment with cutting edge mobile phone technology?

As a test engineer you will work in the development phase closely together with the development team to bring the physical layer into operation, running on the mobile phone hardware. For this work you will develop test software that both interacts with the physical layer software and with base station simulator test equipment. You need a broad system and architecture knowledge, skills in working with test equipment in a lab environment and a deep understanding of the low level procedures in a mobile phone and how it communicates with a base station.

The work is very stimulating and the daily work consists of:
- studying internal design documentation
- studying WCDMA procedures
- test analysis
- creation of test specifications
- developing test software and scripts
- testing new features together with the development team
- analysing results
- fault analysis and troubleshooting of errors

The focus will be on test execution, analysis and troubleshooting. The work is carried out using test instruments such as base station simulators, signal generators and signal analyzers.

Required skills:
- Experience from Network Signalling testing on either mobile or network side. Experience from physical layer test. An alternative is experience from development in this area, with close connection to test activities.
- Knowledge of UMTS/WCDMA/HSDPA/EUL/LTE standards, in the physical layer.
- Minimum Master of Science or similar degree in relevant Telecommunication/Engineering field.
- A deep interest in testing and eagerness to solve problems.
- Programming knowledge.
- Good communication skills in spoken and written English.

Preferred skills:
- Testing with the base station simulators Anritsu MD8480 and MD8430, Agilent 8960, Rohde & Schwarz SMU200, CMU200 and CMW500.
- WCDMA/LTE protocol signalling.
- Programming experience in C/C++ and Python.
- Digital Signal Processing and algorithm simulation.
- Experience from working abroad in an international environment.
- Personal qualities: You have a structured way of working and you are a driving force. You enjoy working both independently and in small teams and good communication skills are necessary. You are analytical and methodical in your way of working. You have an interest in testing, are a problem solver, have a strong will to learn and work both theoretically and practically and you are focused on reaching results on time.
