Safety Advisor required for a leading medical solutions company based in Cardiff to support general safety and environment team to cover for 9 months maternity leave. To ensure continued compliance with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) management systems by managing and delivering training and carrying out risk assessments, accident investigations, auditing and inspections, use of site systems for EHS administration and minute taking for safety committees.

Specific Job Tasks

  • The main responsibility will be to administer the site Environmental Health & Safety training programme using site systems. This will include organising courses, delivering training, engaging external service providers and maintaining records to ensure the site meets its targets. Courses include:
    • Site Inductions
    • EHS General Awareness
    • Fire Safety training
  • Provide support and assistance to the EHS team to undertake other duties, as may be required and as directed by the EHS Manager to maintain the efficiency of the EHS department at the Maynard Centre. This may include but is not limited to:
    • Producing risk assessments
    • Carrying out accident investigations
    • Carrying out audits and inspections, including CDM areas and Plant Manager inspections, with production of reports
    • Minute taking for site EHS committee
    • EHS administration
    • Provision of safety advice to operational areas

Qualifications/Requirements

  • General Safety at either the post graduate level (MSc or equivalent) or via an accredited course (eg NEBOSH Diploma)
  • An up-to-date knowledge of the safety statutory regulations
  • Good team player and communication skills
