Operability Manager

CLIENT

Leading Aerospace-Defence organisation has a new requirement on a Combat Ship Project office to support the assessment phase, which comprises a number of engineering and support activities.

The Job

  • This role is to support the T26 Assessment phase, which comprises a number of engineering and support activities.
  • This role focuses on supporting the Support and Design Teams in providing the assurance required at Main Gate that the UEL, the platform, the automation elements and the support solution provide a coherent perspective aligned to the agreed Concept of Operations/Use/Employment for the Platform.
  • The role will be predominantly involved with working alongside the MoD and NCHQ to define and develop the CONOP/CONEMP/CONUSE for the T26 and ensuring it is aligned with the T26 Manning System, Wholeship and System Design and the Support Solutions.
  • The role also includes influencing the DLOD areas to ensure the necessary changes are made and agreed to ensure the delivered platform can be operated and maintained by the T26 Manning System and the provision of the support solution

Supporting Operability activities

  • Manage and co-ordinate Manning and Automation activities with the wider DfS, DtS and Design teams.
  • Produce the Type 26 Concept of Operations document, agreed and aligned with the Customer Stakeholders, the design and the manning perspectives.
  • Develop the Type 26 Control and Monitoring Strategy, based on the CONOPS which is coherent with the design and manpower constraints.
  • Liaise with Support and Design Teams to ensure the Operability documentation being released reflects:
  • Liaise with the HFE, Training and DfS teams to ensure a coherent perspective and understanding of the manning and operability perspectives which affect those domains.
  • Communicate the agreed operability position across the platforms design teams.
  • Provide evidence of SRD compliance to the Requirements Team

Company/Industry Knowledge:

  • Experience in the identification, management and assessment of complex manning and support related requirements.
  • Experience of RN manning constructs, analysis and management and experience of support engineering, Human Factors and or design disciplines
  • Familiarity with the design and development of naval ships, and the procurement of ship systems and equipment.

Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be eligible to gain UK Security Clearance.
