Campus Information Technologies and Educational Services (CITES) is the provider of campus-wide computing, networking, telephone, and instructional technology services supporting academic activities of faculty, staff, and students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Working in conjunction with the cities of Champaign and Urbana, CITES (on behalf of the University of Illinois) provides high level Network Architecture, Design, Engineering and Support for the UC2B (Urbana Champaign Big Broadband) Federal Stimulus funded fiber to the home network. CITES has an opening for either a Visiting Associate Network Engineer or Visiting Network Engineer dependent on qualifications for the position. These positions will primarily work on the UC2B community broadband project and provide independent operational decision making in a team context with regard to design, deployment, maintenance and support of critical network systems and service
related to UC2B. These positions report to a Networking Manager who reports to the Director of Networking within Campus Information Technologies and Educational Services.

Appointment Status and Salary
This Visiting position is a full-time, twelve-month academic professional appointment which may become permanent at a later date. It includes salary and a benefits package (24 vacation days; health, dental, vision; SURS retirement). For other University provided benefits, please go to: our website. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. There will be no relocation costs included in this package. Applicants should have a current valid legal authorization to work in the United States.
