Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree or higher in electrical engineering/computer engineering/computer science or other appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university. 10+ years software engineering experience. Able to work up to 10 hours OT per week as needed.

Department Description
The DOCSIS CPE firmware development teams are responsible for the design and development of cable-based CPE devices, such as DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems, wireless gateways, and advanced video gateways. All DOCSIS products use Embedded, Real Time development techniques and tools. The current platforms are based on eCos and Linux. The department works closely with the hardware development teams.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations
  • The qualified candidate will be responsible for software feature development, software integration, testing, and maintenance to support the production and deployment of DOCSIS Gateway products
  • The individual is expected to understand software, be able to implement new requirements and fix bugs, test features and troubleshoot issues.
  • The candidate must be a fast learner, team-oriented and able to work independently.
  • Perform analysis of design alternatives in areas of function, performance, and implementation.

    Specific Knowledge/Skills
  • BSEE/BSCE/BSCS or Equivalent
  • 10+Years Experience in Embedded Software Development
  • IP Network experience with focus on Gateway/Router functionality REQUIRED.
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following REQUIRED: IPv4/6 NAPT/NAT (including port forwarding and port triggering), VPNs, Firewalls, IP filtering, DNS, SNMP, DHCP (IPv4 and/or IPv6), IPv6 (ICMPv6, DHCPv6, addressing, etc)
  • Working knowledge of WiFi 802.11 including good understanding of WiFi 802.11 standards, general
    protocol operations & issues, including WiFi Configuration, QOS, Security, and Encryption mechanisms
    is desirable. Prior development or test experience with maintaining or enhancing WiFi driver &
    application code, interfacing with
  • WiFi silicon vendors or WiFi Alliance, is a plus.
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communications Skills
  • C or C++(preferred) experience
  • Experience with using software configuration management tools required, Clearcase a plus.
  • Experience with Structured and Object Oriented Design Methodologies is a plus
  • Cable/RF networks knowledge is a plus
  • Embedded Linux Development experience a plus

    SKILLS
