Description

We are looking for individuals with senior-level Black Box testing experience who can help in the delivery of new functionality in an agile environment. This individual will work closely with one of our client's agile teams to deliver their work on time and with a high level of quality. The successful candidate must be capable and willing to take the QA process from end-to-end in an agile 2 week sprint environment.

The Senior QA Engineer must be a quick and independent learner, results-oriented and proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and Agile environment. This position will require that they not only support the in-sprint work that occurs, but also tackle the tech debt that might be associated with the regression of that area of code, working with the team to find solutions to test coverage.

This company was recently voted one of the best places to work in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times. It's a great team that enjoys working together, so we're also looking for someone who is generally fun to work with and appreciates the concept of working "smart" first and "hard" second. A complete list of requirements for this exciting opportunity for the right person is below. Good luck!

  • Work closely with Product/Business Owners, the engineering team as well as the Test Automation Engineer, to understand the 'story' requirements and 'acceptance criteria' in order to deliver high quality software testing, within the sprint schedule.
  • Create and execute manual test cases based upon story signoff requirements. Perform ad-hoc and regression testing of system components under Agile release schedules.
  • Help maintain quality assurance processes such as test plan reviews, defect management, risk/complexity analysis, and regression/continuous integration maintenance.
  • Interface with 3rd parties on requirements, testing, and problem troubleshooting, as needed.
  • Perform tasks within areas of work with little to no supervision, in a timely manner.
  • Follow through and make sure defects are reported and escalated appropriately, making sure to keep others in the team aware of status in daily stand-ups.
  • Develop and execute manual functional tests and work with the Test Automation Engineer to ensure the right test cases are automated as soon as possible.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 4+ years of software development, testing, or quality assurance experience, including at least 1 year in an Agile environment
  • 4+ years of experience on Internet commerce applications using SQL, UNIX and Java technologies
  • Solid understanding of common software QA and development processes and methodologies, including the Agile/SCRUM development process
  • Strong analytical skills in assessing user, functional, and technical requirements and documentation and identifying high risk and key test areas
  • Strong problem solving and independent investigative skills
  • Understanding of multi-tier web application architecture and deployment
  • Experience testing database driven applications including data validation using SQL
  • UNIX and/or Linux command line experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated history of working with minimal direction, balancing and prioritizing activities to ensure critical items are addressed in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment
  • Genuine enjoyment of QA work
