A leading investment bank is looking for a Front Office Java Developer on a 12 month contract with a view to go perm.
Depending on experience and background, successful candidates will be offered the position of Development Specialist or Senior Development Officer and have the following responsibilities:
Manage and participate in the entire life cycle of the FX PS development project, from requirements gathering to development, testing and implementation.
Coordinate with other global IT teams in London, HK, New York to ensure that global builds meet business requirements, and cultivate effective working relationships with business users, vendors and other IT teams.
Monitor and manage project schedule and progress, resource utilization, risks and issues throughout the project and escalate to management accordingly.
Perform system analysis/design and recommend cost and time-effective solutions to meet business requirements.
Provide coaching, mentoring and guidance to Junior Analysts/developers, both in the team and to the wider eFX community.
Ensure deliverables meet the Bank's standards and quality requirements.
Work closely with our GLT work force, including travelling to our office in Guangzhou.
Liaise with external vendors and consultants to ensure their deliverables meet our requirement.
Experience/Skills
IT working experience in an enterprise or a global environment.
Experience in FX or trading would be beneficial but not essential
Expert technical knowledge in Java development and patterns with experience in collaborating to design systems from the ground up; willing and able to discuss technical design in groups of peers
Experience building low latency systems
Technical knowledge in the following areas is preferred: GIT, JIRA, low latency messaging (eg 29West), Maven, Middleware MQ, UNIX.
Opinionated and with a genuine passion for technology; someone who can bring external knowledge to the team and who seeks to continually improve themselves
Excellent skills in Test Driven Development; experience developing systems iteratively with regular deployment.
Strong planning, organizational, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills.
Able to work independently, proactively and under pressure against multiple deadlines. Effective written and spoken communication skills in English
Flexibility to travel overseas, and sometimes with short stay for months when necessary
