GoAhead Solutions has a great opportunity in New York, NY for a Systems Engineer. This would be a Four month contract to start out that would go up to a year. Systems Engineer will need to be flexible to work extra hours on any given week.
Job Description:
-College degree in Information Technology or related field
-Experience relocating live datacenters
-10 years experience designing, implementing, and supporting Market based applications
-Experience with all flavors of unix with emphasis on Solaris, NetBSD, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Suse, RedHat Linux, SCO Openserver, and Open Solaris
-Complete understanding of Unix internals, particularly pertaining to Solaris
-Ability to use DTrace to troubleshoot proprietary applications
-Ability to clearly communicate and present to large audiences
-Willingness to share knowledge and learn from others; previous experience mentoring is a plus
-An expectation to continuously learn and implement new tools, applications, and technologies
-Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, IGMP, BGP, HSRP, STP, etc.
-Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Solaris Zones, Xen, VirtualBox, etc.
-5+ years experience programming in Perl, C, C++, Java, Bash, or Visual Basic
-Experience with application technologies such as Apache, WebSphere, Tomcat, etc.
-Assist with high-urgency issues affecting production systems in a time-critical manner while expediting root cause analysis and communicating appropriate remediation activities to development teams
