Sr. Unix/Linux Engineer

Major trading firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Unix/Linux Engineer with Sun Solaris, VERITAS foundation and VERITAS clustering experience to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and performing all of the various tasks required to operate and maintain multiple Linux and Solaris systems.
  • Maintain mission critical trading platforms.
  • Resolves system problems by debugging, identifying the root cause and applying corrective maintenance.
  • Resolves system performance problems by careful analysis of the available information sources, identifies the root cause and recommends appropriate tuning activities.
  • Participates in Unix System Admin team's 24x7 on call and early support rotation.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of VERITAS products required-Foundation Suite, VCS, VVR-minimal levels of 5.0+ and VERITAS clustering is required.
  • Hands on experience with Solaris jumpstarting and RedHat Linux Kickstart server build outs on x86 hardware.
  • Expertise with Symantec products including storage foundation RAC, VCS, Foundation suite and NetBackup.
  • Expertise with Redhat Linux Administrtion and Performance tuning.
  • Experience with Solaris 10.x Zones and containers.
  • Experience with IPMP/Link Aggregation/Bonding.
  • Experience with fine tuning OS for low latency and network performance troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Experience with Redhat KVM and RHEV is a plus.
  • Shell/Perl Scripting.
  • Min of 5 years. of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
