Description
The User Experience Specialist is responsible for leading detailed user-experience (UX) design for major projects/initiatives. Strategy, Innovation, User Journeys and multi-platform content.
The role is also responsible for contributing to the development of user-experience methodology, process & standards. The role involves working in a collaborative team environment following User-Centred Design principles and processes to deliver creative solutions across a range of platforms.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead UX activities on major projects/initiatives, be responsible for the UX strategy and design concepts, and for overseeing detailed design and implementation through the build and launch;
- Participate in customer research to understand customer needs;
- Create UX artefacts that support the UX strategy (personas, user journeys and user stories); Define the information architecture;
- Create wireframes and prototypes (for web, mobile and touch screens);
- Participate in customer testing to validate and refine design solutions;
- Participate in screen reviews to provide advice and recommendations on usability and accessibility;
- Stay abreast of industry best practices for UX design and processes,
- Explore new models of interactions across a variety of platforms
- A minimum of 5-7 years in a user-experience role for large and complex websites with a diverse user base.
- Strong visualisation and prototyping skills.
- Experience in User-Centred Design methodologies.
- Experience working on complex, transactional websites.
- Experience working on mobile websites and applications, and familiarity with responsive design techniques.
- Broad understanding of the Web and associated technologies such as HTML, HTML5, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX.
- Extensive knowledge of human-computer interaction and usability.
- A proactive approach, with strong oral and written communication skills including documentation, presentation and collaboration abilities.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills involving extensive contact with diverse groups, including IT, Digital Marketing, Business representatives, Legal & Compliance.
- A degree in human-computer interaction, library/information science, information and visual design, and/or technical communications is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work with minimal supervision.
Technical/Software Skills
- Expert at MS Office suite (essential)
- Adobe Photoshop (Advanced)
- Prototyping tools such as Axure or similar (essential).
- Visio (essential)
