Link Technologies is currently looking for a Security Engineer/Architect with strong network security experience for an exciting opportunity in the Bay Area, travel expenses paid. You will be joining a small team of security professionals interacting with our client's Cyber and IT operational groups to complete a pressing network security gap assessment project. This effort is for approximately six weeks, starting in the near future.

Experience Requirements

  • Strong experience with security reviews and assessments of existing complex network architectures in a highly regulated environment
  • Experience with the design, implementation and continuous monitoring of network security operations
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of NIST (specifically NIST SP 800-53), OMB and FIPS directives/documents and other industry standards or security regulations
  • Strong understanding and experience with network security theory and practical applications, especially re-architecting existing networks for appropriate segmentation and segregation
  • Understanding of security requirements and capabilities for operating systems and platforms (Windows, IOS, Unix, Linux).
  • Experience assessing overall technology solutions and business processes
  • Overall knowledge of the 10 domains of information security
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and risk analysis processes in accordance with NIST SP 800-3
  • Strong ability to performs security evaluations and day-to-day security risk assessment of IT infrastructure including all systems, networks and connectivity, and assists with application of security risk mitigating controls.
  • Ability to develop complex security protection policies and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of information system security engineering processes, security architecture methodologies.
  • Industry best practices and generally accepted information security principles
  • Experience with implement and execute IT protection procedures.
  • Develop frameworks and procedures for accomplishing security program.
  • Researches, analyzes, experiments and applies different means of system compromise and penetration testing, and provides documentation for developments of potential security issues.
  • Involved with computer and network forensic investigations where breaches of security are detected.
  • Ability to formulate and communicate highly technical and complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences in a clear and effective manner.
  • Strong security experience in the following networking areas strongly desired:
  • Network Equipment: Cisco 6500 Series Switches, Cisco 4000 Series Switches, Cisco 7200 Series Routers
  • Load Balancer Appliances: Cisco Application Control Engine (ACE) Load Balancer
  • Network Applications: Cisco Works, WhatsUp Gold, Cisco Network Registrar, Cisco Access Control Server, Terminal Access Controller Access Control System (TACACS+), Google's Capirca ACL Management
  • Firewalls and Remote Access: Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), Cisco AnyConnect VPN client
  • Network Transport: Single mode fiber, Multi-mode fiber, 10GB interconnectivity standards
  • Experience in Department of Energy or other federal agencies highly desired

Personal Characteristics

  • A high degree of familiarity with project management principles. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a problem-solving environment that is non-standardized and broadly and generally defined.
  • Ability to present and communicate information security-related concepts to both technical and non-technical end users
  • Demonstrated skills in technical writing, verbal communication, problem analysis and resolution
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret governing documents, requirements, common technical journals/articles, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Self-starter and self-motivated
  • Proactive
  • Focused towards excellent customer service

Education and Qualifications

  • BA/BS in computer-related field and a minimum of 8 years' experience in the security field required
  • At least one industry recognized security certification (eg CISSP, GIAC, SSCP, etc.)
  • Strong familiarity with NIST, specifically NIST SP 800-53, and other industry standards or security regulations
  • Broad knowledge of IT security best practices including the NIST SP800 series.
