Description
I am currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide professional mechanical engineering expertise to company Projects you will be required to work with close co-operation with the Head of Engineering providing support to the sales & proposals activities of the company as required.
You will liaison day to day with the project manager and be required to co-ordinate various clients technical disciplines ensuring the timely receipt of information. You will provide technical leadership and co-ordination within the project team and build working relationship with the Company`s functional managers
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
-Responsible for the mechanical design and engineering of projects within WSP CEL
-Act as Lead Mechanical Engineer on selected projects controlling design, specifications, costs, hours and programme
-Implement the Company`s Quality Assurance programme
-Assist with preparation of flow sheets, process and instrumentation diagrams and engineering line diagrams
-Supervise plant layout and pipework design including 3D assembly modelling.
-Generate and supervise preparation of data sheets and equipment specifications, technical appraisals and selection.
-Control of project files.
-Preparation and implementation of detail project programmes.
-Sales support including preparation of Proposals.
-Site support during construction and commissioning including field engineering assignments.
-Design studies, safety reviews, Designers Risk Assessments.
-Assist with on-going development and implementation of departmental procedures.
-Inter/multi-discipline co-ordination on projects.
-Other duties and tasks as allocated by the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
-Numerate with good communications skills.
-Confident and articulate with clients.
-Good attention to detail.
-HNC Mechanical Engineering and suitable qualifications/experience to qualify for CEng and MIMechE membership.
-BSc Mechanical Engineering, C Eng and MIMechE membership.
-Experience of mechanical design engineering of which majority is within the contracting industry.
-PC literate especially in the use of spread sheets and database.
-Specific expertise in the design of plant in the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries.
-Experience within the contracting industries and/or a process plant operator would be beneficial.
-Knowledge of CAD and CAE.
-Design of plant in the food and chemical industries.
-Chartered Engineer/Degree educated in related discipline would be an advantage
