A global pharmaceutical organisation requires a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to work on Greenfield Biotech Drug Substance building at their campus in the UK. Their bulk biotech production facility will be based in the UK and has major capital investment planned which has led to the creation of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position.The project is at the very conceptual stage and requires an individual who can work with the organisation to create the Mechanical Engineering philosophies, strategies and plans. As a similar biotech project has been delivered by the pharma company in the US, one of the tasks will be to review their mechanical specifications from their project and converting specifications to the UK project from a mechanical and piping perspective.
Responsibilities to also include:
*Assist with preparation of flow sheets, process and instrumentation diagrams and engineering line diagrams.
*Supervise plant layout and pipework design including 3D assembly modeling.
*Supervise preparation of data sheets and equipment specifications, technical appraisals and selection.
*Control of project files.
*Preparation and implementation of detail project programmes.
*Site support during construction and commissioning including field engineering assignments.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
*Degree (BSc/MSc) in Mechanical Engineering
*Experience with GMP mechanical and piping design appropriate to a biotech cell culture and purification facility is essential.
*Experience must include all phases of a large engineering project in the biopharmaceutical industry (concept design through qualification).
