An experienced Project Engineer with a Control & Automation background is required for a contract position with a global manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems. As a Project Engineer/Control & Automation Engineer you will manage and design contracts within the client`s Systems Department and provide expert technical consultancy including the development of non-standard, bespoke technical solutions. Project you will be involved in will vary in value from a few thousand pounds to �£1m and whilst there are no direct reports to this position you will provide expert technical consultancy and guidance to other technical departments including Technical Support, Service, Sales and R & D.

Responsibilities:

* This is a hands-on, customer facing project engineering role with you being responsible for all project aspects including Project Management, design of electrical control cubicles / systems to customer requirements, meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
* Design (hardware and software) in accordance with company and departmental procedures, specific standards (EN60204, EN13849, UL508A) and project timescales and budgets
* Develop non-standard technical solutions to complex customer control problems
* Build customer relationships with attention to customer requirements balanced against budgetary requirements and timescales
* Provide expert technical support to other areas / departments to help achieve company goals
* Liaise with other engineers to ensure projects are completed efficiently
* Work closely with the Systems and Customer Support Manager to improve the running and profitability of the department
* Have some responsibility for project related purchasing, finance and commissioning.

Skills & Experience required:

* Experience in the field of drive control systems and applications
* 400V 3 phase circuit and control cubicle design
* AC Variable speed drives and applications
* Degree or equivalent in electrical / electronic / control engineering ideally with relevant professional qualification
* PLC Programming, specifically Allen Bradley / Siemens S7
* Fieldbus communications, including Profibus, Devicenet, CAN open etc.
* Project management, good personal time management skills
* Safety systems to EN13849 & EN904
* HMI / SCADA Software
* Electrical CAD e.g. AutoCAD, E Plan or similar

This opportunity is of critical importance to this client and the right candidate can be on-boarded very swiftly. A competitive hourly rate is on offer as a contractor but there is also the opportunity to take on this position as a full time permanent employee.
