The Marketing and Communications department has an exciting new vacancy within its Webteam. We’re looking for a talented front-end web developer to join our team of web professionals driving forward the online presence of the University of Portsmouth on a 2-year fixed term contract basis.

The University’s Webteam are currently working with Clearleft, a user experience and design agency to create a market leading higher education website.

The role holder will play a key part in redesigning the University’s main website and an ongoing role in improving the design, functionality and accessibility of all online communications. The main responsibilities of the role will include creating wireframes, designing and building interfaces, creation of templates and styles in the CMS, creation of HTML email templates and other web development project work.

You should be an expert in HTML and CSS, with demonstrable experience in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript and have a passion and flair for good web design, which should be evidenced by a good portfolio of web design and front-end work.

You should be someone that thrives on staying abreast of new technologies, best practice in web development and user experience. You should also have an interest in or ideas as to how these best practices can be leveraged in regards to higher education marketing. Experience of producing mobile optimized sites or creating responsive designed websites is desirable.
