Job Title: Principal Engineer - Electrical PMS (Propulsion)
Client: Leading Aerospace-Defence organisation
Job Type: Contract
Purpose of Role:
The Principal Engineer (PMS-Propulsion) will work as part of a team of Engineers undertaking tasks contributing to the design of the Platform Management System, Power and Propulsion design solutions. This work is to determine the baseline design for Main Gate Submission and then develop those solutions for the 2nd phase design.
Key Technical Skills
- Wide knowledge of PMS design and Naval Ship design experience, to execute the tasks required to support an informed down-selection process and to determine the baseline solution that will be taken forward into phase 1 Design.
- Knowledge of marine propulsion elements, networking protocols and interfacing, preferably with an understanding of the shortfalls in the way it has been managed on recent naval contracts.
- Be able to perform robust analysis using recognised analytical tools and to make sound judgements based on experience.
- Have sufficient breadth of knowledge of warship design and the sound judgement needed to be able make correct trade-off decisions
Top 4 Major Tasks and Activities:
- Support development of the PMS Subcontract
- Development of the power and propulsion systems designs
- Carry out design tasks to determine the optimum propulsion philosophy, with due regard for implications on ship's complement and development of the resultant interfaces with PMS system architecture.
- Provide specialist technical input to key areas of the design to ensure the suitability of solutions adopted.
Qualifications:
- BEng Mechnical/marine Engineering (preferred) or HBC/HND with appropriate experience in lieu.
