Investment Banking contract position:

Our client is one of the worlds leading fund management and investment banks who is currently seeking a Senior management Software Engineer for a contract position based in Galway.

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills coupled with strong motivation for working in a highly customer-focused environment. The individual should have experience managing Agile projects, a strong technical background and be willing to act in a hands-on capacity where necessary. He/She will work closely with the delivery team to elicit requirements, develop a technical design, define scope, estimate tasks, and implement the solution.

Job/Opportunities:

  • Work with US based product team to define the product roadmap, release scope and requirements
  • Budgetary management of the project including business planning, day to day cost management.
  • Provide coaching to the team including taking the role of scrum master.
  • Resolve issues and/or identify approaches to solutions including identification, management and mitigation of issues and risks.
  • Provide timely and accurate status to all stakeholders.

Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelors or post graduate qualification in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • At least 10 years overall experience in the IT sector with 5 years people & project management experience.
  • Experience managing Agile development teams in the financial services sector would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience managing a product development team in the following technologies - UI (WPF), Middletier (Java), Back End (Oracle).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven project management skills - risk assessment & mitigation, project planning and tracking, working to agreed budgets, status reporting.
  • Experience working in a global development model.
  • Possess demonstrated customer orientation.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment.
  • Strong customer facing and relationship management skills.
  • Proven problem solving skills.
  • Strong design and estimation skills.
  • Ability to travel to the US on occasion.
