Description
Esri ArcGIS Desktop application support specialist to assist end users, provide training materials, and assist with a migration to ArcGIS within a Windows Remote Desktop Service (Terminal Services), implementation of Esri Roads and Highways, and Bentley Projectwise.Installs, configures, and maintains ArcGIS Desktop , ArcGIS Explorer, and database connections on desktop clients
Addresses client migration and ArcGIS Desktop support issues, support ArcGIS license manager
Coordinates agency GIS training program with GDOT Training Center, District Office Trainers, and training providers
Develops online training materials and provides end user instruction on using ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Explorer, and enterprise IT/GIS solutions within the agency
Maintains the GDOT GIS user group membership and moderates/updates site postings/content
Conducts user group sessions and organizes agency GIS day
Provides classroom instruction and training in the ESRI software environment
Acts as customer liaison
Enables customers to be more productive/efficient with GIS
Travels occasionally to GDOT district offices across the state
Assists users in:
o Data cleanup or integration efforts
o Data editing and maintaining feature classes within ArcSDE
o Creating geodatabases
o Map creation and data analysis
o Setting up GPS data collection programs and post processing
Required:
o Excellent English and communication skills, dynamic personality
o Independent worker and self-starter
o Investigative, organizational and research skills necessary to facilitate development of technical GIS solutions
o Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in GIS, Land Use Planning, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a major related to Geographic Information Systems.
o 3+ years of experience performing Esri ArcGIS Desktop GIS related work using ESRI software. Applicable experience may include work related to the development and support of GIS information systems.
o Able to instruct on Trimble GPS data collection
o Able to create maps, process, GIS data, and create geodatabases
o Possess a valid motor vehicle license
o Able to maintain Georgia URISA membership
Preferred:
o Bentley Microstation or CAD experience
o GISP
o Esri Certification
o Experience in GIS application development
The Enterprise GIS team is composed of 4 .NET C# developers, a data manager, team leader, and user support specialist. The team supports over 360 ArcGIS Desktop users and approximately 60,000 annual ArcGIS Server web visits. Applications support GIS portal, feature mapping, project planning, emergency operations, permitting, safety, and traffic records. The team develops enterprise services, applications, and databases. The team coordinates with client, server, network, and database/Datawarehouse personnel to support and develop the underlying IT architecture.
