Quality Engineer

Electronics Manufacturing, ISO 9001:2000 and/or AS9100 in System Design and Assembly

Looking for a Quality Engineer from an Electronics Manufacturing background to join a growing team in Letchworth. This role is a 6 month contract and the skills needed are ISO 9001:2000 and/or AS9100 in System Design and Assembly and Knowledgeable in the interpretation and application of the following standards: J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610 Rev D Class 3, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-

Position Summary:
Reporting to the UK Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for QC and QE support of all products being assembled, tested and shipped out of the client facility. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and execution of Quality Control Plans (including physical inspection) to maximize customer satisfaction with the quality of delivered product. Quality engineering focus will be in the areas of Material Review Board, Internal and Supplier Corrective Actions, Internal & Process audits to the AS9100 standard, and Out of box sample audits. Data analysis and metric generation will also be required. A background in electronics manufacturing and experience with IPC 610-D Class 2 & 3 requirements will enable the Quality Engineer to provide disposition on the acceptability of products for use in Controls Defense Solutions Systems.

Essential Skills and Experience:
+ Experience with the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001:2000 and/or AS9100 in System Design and Assembly
+ Knowledgeable in the interpretation and application of the following standards: J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610 Rev D Class 3, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-
+ 8D problem solving methodology
+ Product Reliability, Maintainability, Durability methodology
+ ESD and MSD Control Requirements
+ Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principals, including experience with 5S audits.
+ Understanding of the required Engineering Documents for PCBA manufacturing
+ Understanding of configuration management (CM), BOM, data and software structures;
+ Solid understanding of DFX principals.
+ Experience with SAP or another MRP is an asset;
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Experience dealing with remote teams in multi-site environments
+ Proven experience in an electronics design & manufacturing company
+ Accredited Auditor Certification is desirable
+ FMEA
+ Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, SAP, Access Dimensions

Position Responsibilities:
+ Represents the Defense Solutions QA department in UK Operations.
+ Development and execution of Quality Control Plans
+ Supports AS9100 certification via internal audits and Quality System maintenance
+ Provides Quality Engineering support to the UK manufacturing process.
+ Manages Material Review Board Process.
+ Supports supplier quality at vendors through the administration of the SCAR process and via site audits when required.
+ Supports the UK Quality Manager in managing customer quality requirements, including preparation and analysis of data.
+ Supports ESD, MSD, 5S & ROHS Management programs as required
+ Supports product yield investigations through the CAR process where required.
+ Provides QA support on the implementation of Engineering Change Orders, Program Instructions, Waivers and Material Substitution Requests.
+ Contributes to and participates in Monthly Quality Reviews.
+ Travel and support of other sites will be required.
