My client who is a major prestigious retail organisation require an IT Disaster Recovery Test Specialist, To take responsibility for the design and facilitation of IT Disaster Recovery tests within the context of the overall IT Controls Improvement Programme.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide subject matter expertise and input for all aspects of the DR Testing framework
• Define DR Test approach for in scope systems/applications
• Working with operational teams design DR tests that will provide the necessary assurance balanced against mitigation of any risk to the production environment
• Champion the implementation of the DR test/exercise processes into BAU
• Support and provide input into the planning process to develop a DR test strategy
• Facilitate and assist with the writing and/or updating of DRPs into the templates ready for testing
• Facilitate and Project manage paper based desktop walk-though tests of the DRPs once they have been completed
• Plan the physical DR tests
• Define the success criteria for each test
• Provide support and facilitation for physical recovery DR tests to the operational teams

Nature and Scope

• Raise the bar beyond the current testing practices, whilst ensuring no unplanned risk to the business during a test.
• Demonstrate a technical understanding and hands on experience of a reasonable proportion of the following technologies, to a level that would be able to confidently challenge technical obstacles raised by existing operations teams for DR tests.
  • I BM Mainframe ZEnterprise 196 running OS 1.13 With DB2, CICS, MQ,Omegamon, BMC Change and Catalog manager, Qrep, QMF, Fileaid, Strobe, Cobol Compiler.
  • Windows Server 2003 Windows Server 2008
  • VMware
  • AS400 running AS/OS400
  • A mix of Unix Power 5 - 7 hardware, including 570, 590, 595, 740 & 770. These run a mix of AIX 5.3 - 7.1
  • Linux SLES10 and SLES11 - the majority is on VMware, but we also run on z/VM
  • Oracle (including RAC) on AIX, DB2 on AIX, DB2 on z/OS
  • SQL Server
  • Networks, routing and Firewalls
• Drive the testing element of IT DR Process Improvement project
• Drive for the implementation of standardised, consistent and simplified processes and controls
• Be regularly present at each site, based in Victoria, but regular trips to Bracknell and Sloane Square.
• Produce deliverables according to agreed development methodology and (Internal)ITPMM (Prince2 based) standards.

Knowledge & Experience

• Deep knowledge DR testing standards
• Extensive proven experience in a role planning and running a wide range of DR exercises from paper based walkthroughs to Physical Mainframe recoveries
• Experience defining and implementing IT DR test processes in a large and complex IT environment
• Extensive and deep knowledge of IT disciplines including network, server, Mainframe, storage technologies; encompassing specific understanding of the technologies utilised in IT DR including, for example, GDPS and clustering technologies
• Previous architecture experience could be advantageous
• Appropriate knowledge of IT development methodology
• Knowledge of IT governance procedures.
