Job Purpose:
The role is responsible and accountable for providing an effective First Article Inspection process in accordance with AS9102 Standard and ensuring best practice techniques are adopted at all times. The post holder will also implement controls in accordance with defined procedures, managing all surveillance and corrective action requirements. Depending upon the capability of the post holder, there is the scope for this post to develop to take on additional responsibilities within the Quality department.
Main Responsibilities:
*Support development of FAI program between production team and the approved suppliers.
*Ensure all Last/First Article Inspection Requirements from supply base are adhered to and appropriate action is taken to resolve any subsequent issues.
*Manage day to day FAI issues, eradicating problems efficiently to minimise impact on our client's business.
*Development of links with suppliers to maximise supply chain efficiencies.
*Proactively support Supply Chain continuous improvement activities.
*Using Company 5 'S' philosophy shall ensure all areas under direct control are clean, tidy and well organised.
*Provides advice and oversees Product Verification activities, ie, product inspection, preparation of paperwork and/or parts to support release personnel.

Adhere to legislation governing employment, including but not restricted to; health and safety, data protection, equal opportunities ensuring compliance with local policies and procedures.

Undertake such other duties commensurate with the role that may be required from time to time. This will include undertaking additional responsibilities depending upon the skills, experience and capabilities of the post holder (ie additional quality responsibilities)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge - Demonstrable knowledge and/or awareness of;
*ISO 9001/AS 9102/CAA/FAA Regulatory and Industry Sector Standards
*Business Systems: MRP (ERP)/New Product Development/Product Life Cycles/Microsoft Office Software, etc.
*Product First and Last Article Inspections
*Supplier/Customer quality requirements
*Attainment of academic qualifications in English and Mathematics equivalent to GCSE Pass.
*Attainment of aerospace product verification or accreditation - preferably in fuels management system product line and/or electrical/mechanical environment (desirable)
*Attainment of NVQ in Inspections and/or City & Guilds equivalent (desirable)

Skills
*Able to demonstrate effective communication skills (both written and verbal) with stakeholders at all levels.
*Effective product verification techniques, understanding of first article inspection requirements and techniques (details versus assembly).
*Management of first article inspection process.
*Has attention to detail/able to follow up and complete tasks to deadlines and compliance standards.
*Able to communicate and negotiate using diplomacy and able to manage conflict effectively
*Can build and maintain effective relationships at all levels.
*Able to undertake training and development to achieve business needs (ie risk assessment).
*Able to meet customer/supplier demands and meet deadlines within defined quality and customer standards.
