My client who are based in the Midlands, are looking to recruit a Stress Engineer, to support their continued growth in this territory.

The successful candidate will be reporting to Lead Engineer and will be responsible for the delivery of engineering concessions (both repair & manufacturing), which meet the requirements defined by their task leader, whilst at the same time ensuring that the completed work package incorporates best practice in all areas.

Key responsibilities of this role are as follows:

*Responsible for the CAE Analysis of a variety of engineering components in order to meet the programme requirements specifically in the context of the following-
oRepair Concessions
oNCRs
oRepair Schemes
*Cost and weight targets must be managed and met
*Stress engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers.
*Concessions justification review meetings
*Ensure the concessions recommendation is suitable from a fit form & function perspective
*Recommend additional approvals where required
*The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
*Ensure that all compliance requirements for stress, F & DT are satisfied and design and are communicated to design lead
*Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines as laid out in BMS documentation
*To check engineering packages
*Generate and/or revise specifications
*From time to time, stress engineers must be prepared to undertake other tasks as requested by their immediate supervisors.
*Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)

The key skills of the role are as follows;

*Sufficient engineering capability and experience to create effective engineered solutions
*Competent user of the incumbent data management systems
*Ability to work using tools such as Nastran, Patran and ability to do hand calculations
*Ability work in a disciplined & organised manner
*IT Literacy
*A working knowledge of the various methods of manufacture to be employed such as:
1.Machining
2.Casting
3.Vacuum forming
4.Injection moulding
5.Composite materials
6.Trim and finish
7.An understanding of the selection of appropriate hardware (fasteners etc)
*A good understanding of the manufacturing capabilities and limitations of MU
*A good understanding of the methods of assembly employed by Operations
*A good understanding of F & DT
*An understanding of the effective application of tolerances and G D & T
*An understanding of material selection
*An understanding of protective treatments
*An understanding of aircraft design and airframe components with a working knowledge of Boeing, Airbus requirements (D etc)
*Familiarity with company procedures and best practices
*Awareness of the certification framework within which the work is undertaken
*A good working knowledge of the companies change control process
*A good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Personal Attributes required for the job are as follows:

*Engineering degree or ONC/HNC in design related field and a minimum of 5 years experience
*Effective oral and written communication skills
*Good team working skills
*The ability to work with a low level of supervision and intervention
*Willing to travel to support company objectives
*Good working ethic
