Bachelor's degree in Accounting required CPA preferred 3-7 years of work experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or industry (large public company preferred), or combination thereof Must be able to work in downtown Chicago beginning summer 2013
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Senior Accountant position will play a key role on the Corporate Accounting team, which reports to the Controller. The Corporate Accounting team is responsible for all close and reporting functions, including the monthly close and account reconciliation process; accounting issue resolution; interaction with external audit firm and internal audit team; external reporting and disclosure support; and various other accounting governance activities.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS
The primary responsibilities for this position are as follows:
This position will be involved in various areas of Mobile Devices accounting, with the primary focus being on the Mobile Devices Corporate accounts, including balance sheet and reserve reviews; intercompany accounting; investment accounting; payroll and benefits accounting; and royalty, investment and intellectual property accounting. The position will be responsible for recording general ledger journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts. The position will also assist in performing various analytical review procedures and responding to inquiries from management about reported results. In addition, this role will support the general accounting functions for the Mobile Devices accounting organization and will encompass other areas of accounting as needed. The role will also participate in monthly balance sheet and reserve reviews with the Corporate Accounting Manager and Controller and will have interaction with and exposure to a variety of Corporate and functional departments within the Mobile Devices business.
It is envisioned that this job will also entail various other accounting responsibilities such that after 18-36 months this person can rotate to other roles within the Controllership or elsewhere in the broader Finance organization.
