The objective of the position is to deliver effective database solutions (both transactional and reporting) that meet the current and future needs of the business. Current projects involve changes required to make the databases compliant with regulatory reforms.

This is a great opportunity to work in a team environment, where you are given the responsibility to see a project through from beginning to end, without micro management. You will also potentially be given the opportunity to oversee a junior resource. This position will likely extend and there may even be the opportunity to join on a permanent basis if you prove yourself!

Your role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Analyse, design, program, test and implement database solutions to meet the needs of the business.
  • Review of business and technical requirements and design in line with environment constraints.
  • Leading a team of on/off-shore developers and managing their outputs
  • Review technical documents and code outputs and coordination of technical testing.
  • Ensure effective engagement with stakeholders (business, IT, external)
  • Understand, coach and ensure best design and quality software practices.
  • Support of all testing processes and coordination of development support as required, pre and post release.

You should have the following skills and experience:

  • Solid experience with SQL Server (including SSIS).
  • An in-depth understanding of Microsoft technologies and solutions.
  • Ability to identify and understand client needs and respond in a timely and professional manner.
  • Experience in designing, building and maintaining large corporate databases.
  • Be an enthusiastic team player, results oriented and committed to quality management.
  • Strong documentation principles.
  • Strong logical, problem-solving thought process and a customer service focus.
  • Ability to lead a small technical team and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
