Description
Currently our direct client is urgently in the market for an experienced Wind Turbine Offshore Installation /Engineering Manager.Principle accountabilities:
-Manage a team of offshore client resident engineers onboard the installation vessels
-Ensuring that the installation works are carried out in accordance with the contract specifications and method statements
-First point of call for rectification of installation issues and recommending appropriate course of action
-Supervise offshore contractors & ensure use of correct PPE, equipment & working practices
-Review method statements & risk assessments for all offshore work
-Review and provide input on the sea fastening design for all WTG components
-Liaise with the Marine Warranty Surveyor on offshore working parameters and installation activities
-Review and provide client input into the vessel marine procedures
-Review and provide input on the optimum vessel deck layouts
-Work closely with the Heavy Lift team to ensure that all lift operations and installation/erection activities are undertaken safely and that the lift plan is being followed appropriately
-Support the Principal Contractor in ensuring all operations are undertaken in keeping with CDM (2007) regulations
-Reporting of near-misses and incidents
-Record keeping of daily reports and production of weekly/monthly installation reports for the project manager
-Liaison with WTG Package Managers on interface and contractual matters
-Instruct Contractor to stop the works for immediate environmental or health and safety reasons
-Liaison with all suppliers and signing off technical operational readiness prior to offshore installation activities commencing
Essential:
-Engineering background - preferably structural or mechanical
-Significant offshore experience, preferably in the planning and executing of WTG installation activities
-Offshore lifting experience or significant understanding of principles and practices
-Knowledge of wind turbine generator components and ancillary installation equipment
-Good knowledge of current UK health, safety and environmental legislation (LOLER, PUWER)
-Familiarity with Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007
-Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
-Results orientated, able to meet tight deadlines and provide clear concise information to senior management
