We are recruiting on behalf of a Leading Cloud Infrastructure as a Service Provider. This is an initial 6 month contract which is highly likely to extend or to be made permanent. Our client requires an Junior Unix Systems Engineer to join an existing team in the Cloud Operations Division. The role will involve providing primarily 2nd level and some 3rd level support for Solaris 10, Red Hat and VMware issues. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a highly technical environment utilising the latest technologies.
Ideally this would suite someone with 2-4 years in Unix administration in either Linux or Solaris and commercial exposure or training in VMware or Logical Domains and Zones.
Responsibilities:
- Effective end to end management of customer incidents
- Excellent Customer Focus
- Provide assurance for the Unix platforms in a Level 2 capacity
- Proven ability to manage multiple incidents
- Proactive work ethic
- Work with the 3rd level team to ensure issues are seen through completion
Required Skills:
- 2nd/3rd level Administration Skills on Solaris 10
- Experience with Redhat Linux (RHEL 5)
- Some experience of VMware - highly preferred
- Experience with Unix and Linux Virtualisation (LDoms, Zones, KVM)
- Excellent customer service experience
- An interest in Cloud technologies
- Ability to do scheduled 24/7 support
