Cloud Systems Administrator SME with Cisco VSG solution, and more generally in Cisco security products, such as Firewalls (and ACLs), routing and switching, is required for this new contract. You will be responsible for providing escalation support for lower tier staff regarding outstanding incident tickets for VSG as utilized in the Infrastructure-as-a-Service solution for both Enterprise and SMB customers. You will be focused on proactively identifying potential issues (problem management) and solutions.

The following skills and responsibilities are required for this role:

Domain expert in Cisco VSG, with a sub-specialty in one or more areas of cloud network infrastructure - routing/switching or security - with 8-10 years of extensive troubleshooting and problem solving experience across multiple domains, Core VSG Solution, VSG and use in VMware environment, VSG Monitoring and Reporting, VSG Setup, Decommissioning and Troubleshooting, Preferably domain expertise in one of the following areas, Routing: ASR, Switching: Nexus, Catalyst, Security: Cisco FWSM, ASA, Virtualization: VMware vSphere 5, overall basic understanding of cloud architecture including infrastructure build, automation and operations, Knowledge of IT service management processes and implementation within the datacenter (including ITIL).


  • Provide escalation support of outstanding incident tickets for tier 1, 2 engineers
  • Open Cisco support tickets for VSG and work as required to facilitate incident resolution - including software and hardware issues
  • Perform VSG proactive problem management functions to identify and rectify potential service impacting issues
  • Use cloud service assurance and system administration tools to monitor overall cloud infrastructure and provide SME support and VSG domain expertise
  • Use syslog, SNMP traps, CLI output, and advanced knowledge of IP fundamentals to determine root cause of incidents or problems on VSG
  • Manage capacity/utilization for VSG
  • Provide support to Storage/Backup SME to develop a backup strategy for the VSG infrastructure
  • Perform Performance Management tasks on the VSG solution
  • Review planned change requests, and supervise change implementations. Validate change implementation plans and rollback plans
  • Perform functions across all countries (Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil) from the Cloud Command Center in Queretaro
  • Provide on-call out-of-hours support for Severity 1 issues.
