The Construction Manager brings specialist skills to manage and lead key construction activities including management and control of Contractors and support facilities and resources; technical & safety integrity of field engineering; field procurement; interfaces with QA, and facilities completion and precommissioning activities. The Construction Manager is competent to manage and supervise all technical discipline work associated with the assigned object(s) and may also be assigned to work in other functional areas eg facilities commissioning, engineering coordination and/or operations interface coordination

Primary Functions:
* Develop and manage the Construction Management Organisation for the project.
* Manage the client and EPCm Contractor Construction Management Team in accordance wit the Safety and Construction objectives of the project.
* Manage and Coordinate Vendor Construction Leads in their specific functional area of responsibility.
* Develop and own the Construction Execution Plan detailing the contracting strategy, management systems and organisation through which the 'build' will be completed.
* Lead Construction input to design engineering work to ensure accessibility in all areas of the facility including Inside battery limits [ISBL] and outside battery limits [OSBL] and for efficient use of space including all aspects of Human Factors Engineering.
* Develop and lead Constructability reviews as required by the project.
* Ensure major equipment and sub-structures are arranged for efficient handling and lifting.
* Manage and Coordinate the field Construction Management Team including but not limited to discipline construction supervision in civil, structural, mechanical, welding, non destructive testing [NDT], electrical, instrumentation, piping, coatings, insulation, fireproofing, pre-commissioning, rigging/heavy lifting disciplines and field staff within Health Safety and Environmental, QA/QC, materials control, logistics, project controls and contract administration functions.
* Implement logistical and HR solutions associated with mobilizing site teams, including offices, Information Technology/Communications, transportation and accommodation arrangements, emergency evacuation procedures, medical and recreational facilities.
* Participate in and lead the Construction input to Pre-qualifying candidate fabricators/contractors and major package assembly providers.
* Participate in and lead the Construction input to bid clarification & kick-off meetings.
* Participate in and lead the Construction input to the establishment of fabrication scopes of work for contract documentation, RFP/RFQ requirements and Contract terms and Conditions.
* Participate in and lead the Construction input on bid evaluation work for primary construction contracts.
* Play a lead role in the development of the Construction Health and Safety Plan.
* Ensure that the project delivers on pre-agreed site safety (and environmental) targets for Company and Contractor staff.
* Implement and manage Construction QA/QC Management Systems; utilizing 3rd party specialist contractor services as appropriate.
* Participate in and lead the Construction input to the development of contractor's schedules and planning basis (norms).
* Ensure that the construction element of the project is delivered in accordance with the agreed schedule.
* Participate in and lead the Construction input to the development of field progress measurement and reporting systems along with the establishment and subsequent delivery of Construction KPI's including but not limited to quality, safety and productivity.
* Manage and coordinate the development and implementation of the documentation for Mechanical Completion and Precommissioning phases of the project including the Construction elements of the handover to operations for Commissioning and Start up.
* Ensure a consistent approach to Process Safety Assessments, VIP, HAZID, HAZOP, ENVID, PUWER and other safety, regulatory, peer and operations reviews through guidance and participation as a primary contributor.
* Acts as the project focal point for CDM regulations field compliance.
* Participate in and lead the Construction input to discussions and interfaces with regulatory authorities.
* Acts as the Principal Construction Technical Authority for the project Critical

Skills:
* Proven skills in the Management and leadership of Construction Teams.
* Demonstrable technical competency.
* Knowledge and experience of construction industry norms and metrics for process plant.
* Knowledge of UK industrial relations legislation for process plant construction.
* Demonstrable interpersonal, teambuilding and team leading skills
* Familiarity with Safe systems of Work (ie PTW)
* Detailed knowledge of CDM regulations

Preferred Requirements:
* Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent Training or Education
* 15+ years experience in process plant capital project construction primarily in the area of site construction, fabrication, or installation, though other industry major industrial construction experience may qualify.
* 10+ years of construction within a live operating plant area including shutdown/turnaround works.

Position Based:
* Likely to be the London Area with regular visits to Theddlethorpe and occasional visits to Aberdeen for approximately 9-12 months followed by 12 to 18 months in Theddlethorpe, UK.
