A functional consultant is required at a leading investment bank in Brussels.

Required experience/skills

  • Ability to identify the users and decision-makers concerned on a project
  • Knowledge of the rules governing user project management - MOA and the relations between user project management - MOA and MOE/IT project management
  • Ability to use Office applications to present and track a project
  • Expert knowledge of the processes of change management Ability to analyse/critically review
  • Ability to summarize/Ability to report - inform
  • Sense of initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills/Excellent team player
  • Fluent in English, French is a plus
  • Good command of Office tools (excel, ppt)
  • Knowledge of Asset Management (Fund Management, Operations and Back Office functions) - Expertise in Operations processes and business is a strong asset
  • Knowledge of financial instruments: Fixed Income, Equities, SWAP, Mutual Funds, futures
  • Project management methodology skills (Prince 2, PMP,...)/experience in project management on business side with IT architecture knowledge and Business Analysis methodology are strong pluses, as is CMMI methodology knowledge.

Job description

1. Identify and formalise requirements (Single point of entry):

  • Collect and detail the statement of functional requirements
  • Manage follow-up on any anomalies reported and development requests
  • Prioritize and formalise requirements by drawing up the functional specifications to be implemented
  • Propose a functional solution and get it validated, factoring in the requirements collected, the existing applications and their constraints

2. Manage one or more project stages, ensuring that an optimum result is achieved in line with user requirements:

  • Provide the teams with project management support
  • As relevant, oversee projects from the design stage through to implementation and check the level of progress in terms of costs and timeframes
  • Provide the necessary support to development teams during the development phase and offer proposals for resolving any difficulties encountered
  • Report to management (tracking, indicators, identification of risks)
  • Organise and lead working sessions between business project and IT project management
  • Take part in project committees
  • Lead Steering committee with sponsor (Planning and budget consolidated review)

3. Validate the suitability of IT project management developments in relation to the needs expressed (quantities, costs,...):

  • Maintain a permanent link with IT project management throughout the project
  • Draw up, carry out and review the acceptance testing scenarios
  • Prepare and participate in the acceptance/testing phases
  • Ensure the approval of IT developments
  • Handle corrective maintenance activities

4. Support project deployment:

  • Take part in drawing up user documentation
  • Prepare communications and the information to be provided to the various players
  • Take part in managing users: collect requirements, put suitable training in place and provide users with support on a daily basis.
