Job Description:

• Our client, a leading financial institution, seeks an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with at least eight years of experience in designing, implementing, and tuning very large Microsoft SQL Server databases.

Key Experience & Responsibilities:

• Skilled at maintaining high transaction rate production 24 x 7 x 365 database environments.
• Expertise in resolving database stability issues and designing automated maintenance solutions to ensure optimal performance.
• Extensive experience with Windows and SQL Server clustering and mirroring technologies.
• Experience with SQL 2000, 2005, 2008 in a production SAN and NAS environment containing Very Large Databases (VLDB).
• Knowledgeable in data center operations, including familiarity with HP Proliant hardware, IBM X-series hardware, Network hardware, NetApp - hardware and EMC hardware for supporting Windows 2000, 2003, 2008, and Microsoft Cluster Services.
• Deploys releases for database changes in production and non-production environments.
• Designs and deploys SQL Server Disaster Recovery and High Availability Solutions within business Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO).
• Participates in the on-call rotation for supporting the operational platform and works flexible hours to support team SLA requirements.
• Executes project and internal initiative responsibilities as assigned or delegated.
• Authors and maintains operational documentation, best practices, and run books for the operational platform.
• Is responsible for all major database components of SQL Server and has strong knowledge of the various interrelationships between major system components including networking, storage, server, operating system, cluster, authentication, application code, and disaster recovery technology.
• Is considered by peers to be a subject matter expert knowledgeable on major components supported by the team as well as by other technical and application support staff such that the Senior DBA is able to operate with little supervision and minimal technical guidance.
• Has thorough knowledge of administrative and technical resources available and a demonstrated ability to use those resources for problem determination, product enhancements, and other technical issues related to the SQL Server components being administered.
• Executes and provides feedback on the architectures implementation as defined by the business requirements, CTO team manager under the guidance of team roadmaps.
• Planning and Configuring databases for high availability and disaster recovery including clustering, replication and backup/restore processes.
