KMM Technologies Inc is looking for the consultants for Sybase DBA Consultant for one our client at Jersey city, NJ for 12 Months Contract Opportunity Please respond with your Visa Status, updated profile, current location, availability and expected rate
Main Duties
Production support of Sybase databases for mission critical applications
Pro-active work on ASE 12.5.4 and ASE 15.x to make sure all maintenance utilities are run and no performance issues are encountered
Work towards the stability of production databases
Support production replication topologies and resolve issues as they crop up
Provide follow the Sun Sybase support as part of global Sybase DBA team
Provide early and late shift coverage on weekdays and weekend support as required
Person Requirements
Must be a team player who will work closely with global team
Must have excellent communication skills to clearly and effectively discuss topics
Must be flexible to provide production support during off-hours and on the weekends
Skill Requirements
Expert in Sybase ASE 12.5.4 performance and tuning.
This should include
Expertise in understanding Sybase query plans and looking at join types and conditions to understand where query is picking a sub-optimal plan
Suggest server and database level configuration parameter changes for improved performance throughput
Expert Sybase Replication Server performance and tuning. This should include
Close understanding of replication configuration settings and what can be changed to improve performance under heavy IO activity
Expertise in a complete understanding of Replication Server internals and how they can be tweaked for improved stability
Ability to debug ASE and replication issues and propose's viable solutions in quick, time sensitive situations. This requires the ability to think quickly on the spot and make right decisions to resolve the problem at hand
Ability to develop automation and monitoring scripts in Shell or Perl for handling DBA related tasks in a highly transactional, replication heavy production environment
