Commodities Procurement Manager required for an immediate start for a major Central Government Organisation. Based at a choice of either LEEDS OR LONDON until the end of March 2013 offering a daily rate of £. MCIPS Qualified OR working towards qualification (Or equivalent). REQUIREMENTS:
* Extensive experience of procurement, across a broad range of categories, within a public sector environment
* Experience of working in large scale project environments in a procurement/commercial capacity
* Experience of managing a team of procurement specialists
* Experienced problem solver with the ability to seek alternative solutions both technically and strategically
* Experience of public sector procurement, including detailed understanding of the public procurement regulations and preferably an appreciation of the approval processes

DUTIES:
* Deliver value for money and compliance with law and procurement best practice
* Stakeholder management
* Manage the day to day operations of the procurement function;
* Contribute professional expertise
* Provide an early steer on alternative commercial approaches and opportunities that should be tested with the market and socialising options internally via appropriate governance routes.
* Manage the delivery of efficient procurement process
* Provide guidance and training to all Informatics colleagues engaged in procurement activity
* Contribute to procurement related PQs and requests for information
* Monitor and report procurement efficiency and progress against defined objectives.
* Ensure and manage the appropriate approvals of all procurement activity in line with current internal, Department of Health and wider government guidance.
