Software Technical Architect, Brussels

Function Description
My client is actively looking for a .Software Technical Architect to integrate its IT project teams. The candidate will work under the supervision of the software engineer and a project manager, he or she will be responsible for the complete cross platform solution designs (and alternatives) and follow up the implementation.

Following the company's guidelines and market best practices the candidate will produce solution designs (4+1 View), technical documentation and support the production of quality product The candidate will also participate in the planning of the implementation. Ideally the candidate will have relevant experience in corporate-wide projects and experience with some of these technologies: SAP, Sharepoint, Documentum, GIS systems, .Net, Oracle, SQL Server, Axapta, mobile development.

Responsibilities

  • Produce cross platform solution design proposals
  • Produce system specifications & integration specifications
  • Translate system requirements to task/detailed specifications for (Lead) Developers
  • Provide feedback and/or alternatives on Application Architecture, Business and Functional Analysis input
  • Cooperate with Software Engineer to produce cross platform/department wide technical architecture
  • Support implementation in collaboration with Lead Developer.
  • Support complete life cycle of the implemented solution (Deployment, Operations, Disaster Recovery,)
  • Respect and propose review of guidelines set up by software engineers
  • Contribute to the methodologies & guidelines defined with software engineers.
  • Support the organization of tasks and planning of development team;
  • Support the coordination of deployment with ICT Operation teams
  • Optionally, the Technical Architect will also take the role of .NET Lead Developer

Communication Skills

  • Ability to communicate concepts and recommendations to technical & non-technical audience with simple and appropriate language.
  • Ability to communicate with business analysts & application architects for understanding the specifications and designs that form the basis for implementation
  • Ability to communicate with software engineer and other technical architects to understand the constraints of the architecture that must be followed
  • Team player
  • Ideally bilingual (FR/NL) but an active knowledge of one of the language and a passive knowledge of the other will suffice.
  • A good knowledge of written English is necessary because all the documentation is written in English

Personal Skills

  • Ability to work relatively independently following the priorities and timing of the project plan.
  • Ability to work structured following the procedures of the project (check-in, check-out, time sheet reporting, and punctuality).
  • Ability to work according to rules, standards and guidelines defined in the architecture.
  • Ability to detect when a reviewed rules/standards should be executed
  • Ability to communicate realistic predictions about the development work.
  • Being prepared to commute daily to Brussels for the whole duration of the mission.

Technical Skills

  • The ability to write & read formal designs and specifications (like 4+1 view, Information Model, System Context, Business Process)
  • Capability to formalize using UML.
  • Fluency in the use of the following tools:
    o Documentation tools (Microsoft Office or equivalent)
    o Modeling tools (UML based Case Tools)
    o Development related tools (programming languages, integrated development environments, testing, build,)
    o Platform related tools (database, Middleware, application Servers, deployment,)
  • Capability to execute technical tasks in 1 or multiple listed technologies is a plus (see above)

Experience & expertise

  • Sound experience of distributed systems
  • Sound knowledge of generally applicable implementation patterns.
  • Sound knowledge of SOA
  • Sound knowledge of database design,
  • Experience with XML (XSD, XSLT,)
  • Sound experience of Object Oriented
  • Sound knowledge of the component based development principles as explained in CBD concepts.
  • Sound knowledge of generally applicable implementation patterns.
  • Experience with .NET (C#), WCF.
  • Experience with Web development.
  • Experience with integration to SAP environment
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, stored procedures (Oracle and/or SQL Server)
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum) methodology
