Category Manager required for an immediate start at a major Central Government Organisation based in Cardiff. The role is for 6 months offering a daily rate of £. Must be MCIPS Qualified.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Develop recommendations on strategies that will support realisation of early benefits in advance of the establishment of the Organisation. These strategies are likely to include: consolidation of existing contracts; demand management and specification standardisation.
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders to maximise uptake of collaborative contracts.
- Proactively manage and develop the supply base to continually improve customer service and value for money whilst delivering sustainable procurement benefits in line with procurement policy.

Requirement
* Lead the development of robust procurement strategies and best practice improvement plans.
* Lead experienced procurement professionals and senior stakeholders.(a strong knowledge in all aspects of the full end-to-end procurement process and best practices will be required).
* Demonstrate experience in strategic procurement techniques specifically relating to market assessment, strategy development, sourcing and tendering, supplier management and negotiation.
* Deliver advanced procurement including securing improved outcomes in value for money and capability.
* Lead a team, with a group of senior procurement professionals to deliver an agreed objective within set timescales

The successful candidate will also need to have
* MCIPS Qualified Procurement professional personnel available who have with at least 5 years experience of working at a strategic and highly collaborative level in Procurement
* Experience of working in a senior Procurement role in Local Government and/or NHS is highly desirable.
* Advanced data analysis skills (proven track record of being able to manipulate quantities of data)
* Good working knowledge of the Public Sector Markets with the ability to work cross sector at all levels of an organisation
* Knowledge and experience of working with supply chains and development of SMEs
* Good communicator able to learn quickly and express ideas and concepts effectively in writing and face to face.
