Interim HSE Manager required.

ROLE PURPOSE

The role is to lead health & Safety across the business during the construction and on-going maintenance phases as well as the office environment. As a senior member of the team you would be responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted and where required implement new policies.

The emphasis of this role is to lead the change in culture, process and best practice to ensure we have a best in class approach to Health and safety and com pliance generally.

This role will be com e an integral part of the project delivery and maintenance teams to not only create safe working environments for all stakeholders, but to develop dedicated processes and procedure to better control works, programs and maintenance activities through management review and RAMS that look at a wide range of Health, Safety, working time, business and operational risks that are appropriate and consistent with world class critical facilities.

  • Construction & Environmental background
  • Policy writing
  • Occupational experience
  • Site inspections and reporting
  • Pro-active attitude, with experience of successfully delivering change through continuous improvement, processes and people
  • Managing changes to working practices to com ply with legislation
  • Preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy
  • Detailed knowledge of CDM
  • Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced
  • Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Leading in-house training with managers and employees
  • Keeping records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements
  • Keeping records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers;
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry
  • Producing management reports, newsletters and bulletins
  • Ensuring the safe installation of equipment
  • Managing and organising the safe disposal of hazardous substances, eg asbestos
  • Advising on a range of specialist areas, eg fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases
  • Work towards BS OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety & ISO 14001.
