My client requires a Data Compliance & Policy Manager to join for a 12 month contract. Reporting to the Senior Data Capability Manager the role is to maximize the value of data within the organisation whilst reducing associated risks. The organisation demands accurate, meaningful data in order to manage supporter relationships in an appropriate and compliant manner. You'll need to ensure that data is managed in compliance with the Data Protection Act, and associated regulations and that standards and guidelines are communicated and followed. This includes ensuring that data is collected, stored, accessed, utilised and disposed of in an appropriate manner and that staff are consistently trained. You will drive data compliance as well as providing the means for external auditors to verify those observations.

Key Responsibilities include:

Data Compliance & Security
Responsible compliance with data protection legislation, information security specifications and any other charity legislation
Manage the development and implementation of suitable and relevant data protection and security policies to ensure compliance
Develop, implement and manage a risk plan for data compliance and security
Ensure all staff and relevant personnel in receive the right level of training and information about data protection, compliance and security including development of E-learning where appropriate
Be the primary contact across the organisation for all data compliance issues particularly internal audit, finance and legal

Data Governance

Establish and manage an effective multi-faceted data network where decisions can be made about
the use of our data and on-going changes and enhancements
Work with the network to build ownership around data and empower them and build their confidence
Work with other managers in Data Services to ensure we maximise the value from the data network as a whole to ensure we address all our data needs through this forum
Manage effective relationships with key members of the data network and ensure they fully understand their responsibilities around data

Technical Knowledge and Experience:
You will have strong knowledge of Data Governance
Experience with the Data Protection Act (DPA) is essential
Experience of information security frameworks like IS27001 or similar
Some expertise in either working with RMADS or a similar accreditation is a plus but not essential
Extensive Information Technology experience, some of which has been in a security or compliance role
Experience of good governance frameworks and processes in an organisation of similar size and complexity
