Description

The organisation develops, builds and operates offshore wind farms along the coasts of several European countries. Our extensive project pipeline includes wind farms totalling over 4GW. Projects are constructed on a multi-contract basis with the client taking an active involvement in all engineering aspects. At between MW, this is one of the largest offshore wind farms currently in construction in Europe.

A general Site Manager is required to manage contracts for the delivery, pre assembly, erection and commissioning of 160 offshore wind turbines. The contracted works include:

* Delivery and inspection of turbine components to Port - tower sections, blades, rotors and nacelles
* Storage, assembly and pre-installation checks on all turbines
* Installation and mechanical completion of turbine components
* Energisation and commissioning of turbines
* Reliability runs and asset handover


In order to deliver these works a multi-contract strategy has been adopted by the project, comprising separate contracts for;

* The Port site lease and facilities
* Dredging to the quay and adjacent basin
* The construction of a new pontoon facility
* Offshore turbine delivery via the PoM Ro-Ro facility
* The storage, pre-assembly and load out of turbine components
* Installation of turbines
* Commissioning of the turbines


Main responsibilities include:

* Assist in the assessment of contractor performance to drive HSE improvements and site safety. Identify and implement safety initiatives

* Act as the site focus to undertake and discharge the responsibilities as Principal Contractor under the CDM regulations;

o Plan, manage and monitor construction phase to make sure, so far as is reasonably practicable, it is carries out without risks to health or safety
o Ensure adequate welfare facilities for those working on the site
o Implement the construction phase health and safety plan, draw up and implement site rules as necessary
o Provide a suitable site induction, making sure those working on site have received the required training to carry out work safely and without risk to health
o Enable and ensure co-operation between parties working at site, and that work is co-ordinated in a such a way as to prevent danger
o Ensure that correct health and safety information is provided to the right people at the right time

* Support the commercial team in the provision of data to inform the project`s position on contract payments, variations and claims. To assist, as required, in reviewing and preparation of all documentation (letters, reports etc)

* Assist in ensuring adequate auditing of the installation of WTGs, including harbour management, delivery of components from the manufacturing facilities and compliance with the specification

* Proactively identify and notify the SPM on any issues that arise or have the potential to arise during the course of works and provide assistance in resolving any such issues


Knowledge & Skills:

* Experience in a similar management role within the construction or offshore industry
* Technical understanding of WTG technology and installation techniques
* Good knowledge of Health and Safety in particular CDM 2007 Regulations
* Previous experience in work scheduling, resource planning, quality management, environmental management
* Willingness to occasionally work offshore and undertake appropriate training
