Description

Department:
Product Line (PL) RF Small Signal, part of the BU HPMS and business line High Performance RF, is located in Nijmegen.
RF Small Signal develops and supplies RF products for a wide variety of consumer and infrastructure applications worldwide. A key development area is on RF ICs for high frequency applications covering wireless communications and infrastructure, satellite down converters, e-metering and microwave products. The technology of choice is the high performance Qubic4 (BiCMOS) process developed in-house in semiconductors.

For the PL RF Small Signal, various upcoming growth areas are identified, the first being RF amplifiers for industrial applications. Examples are medium power amplifiers (MPA) for base stations and set-top boxes; Low noise amplifiers (LNA) for base stations and GPS and variable gain amplifiers (VGA) for the base stations market.

A second growth area is further RF integration within satellite LNB (Low Noise Block), more particular on the development of integrated mixer down converters, operating at high frequencies (>10GHz).
Job description:

As Characterization Engineer (CE), you will be a member of the test and product engineering (TPE) group and will work together with other engineers (design engineers, test engineers, product engineers, quality engineers, etc.) in cross functional product development teams.

In these teams, the CE is responsible for the development of a laboratory test- and characterization setup for new products. With this setup, the CE will characterise the RF performance of the products for the specified operating conditions (temperature, supply voltage, etc.) Typical measurements are S-par, OIP3, P1dB, NF, PhN, Spurs, etc.

Data analysis, including embedding/de-embeddingen and reporting on the measured performance is a key responsibility of the CE.

Education/ studies:
-Masters (or Bachelor`s degree with relevant RF experience) (WO/HBO+) in electrical engineering.

Required experience and skills:
-Strong technical background (Academic level MSc. EE or equivalent, based on relevant RF testing experience) in the field of electronics in the RF domain.
-Experience in Characterization Engineering is a must.
-Experience with RF test and measurement equipment (RF generators, Network analyzers, etc).
-Knowledge of NI Labview and/or HP Vee.
-Experience with RF test circuit (test jig) design is a big plus.
-Pro-active, result-driven mentality.
