Currently our client, a leading European energy provider who develop, construct and maintain offshore wind parks , are looking for 2 experienced Contract Engineers.

The contract engineers will manage the contract for the offshore site investigation of unidentified magnetic and sonar anomalies with the potential to be Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) or Archaeology. The wind farm will include 74 x 3MW turbines, an offshore and onshore sub station and associated cable works.


The role:

A contractor has been employed to use Nitrox diving and RoV resources carried on a DP2 vessel to investigate approximately 900 targets on the seabed within the site boundary and cable routes.

The operations will continue from approximately mid January 2013 until late April 2013, 24/7 working will be employed.The initial work period will be not less than 4-months.

Client representatives have been appointed with specific skills related to diving or RoV operations. 24/7 offshore supervision and monitoring will be provided by the teams of client representatives.

The Contract Engineer will report to the Package Manager who in turn reports to the Offshore Construction Manager.


Responsibilities;

* Manage the diving/RoV contractor, including day to day operations planning
* Manage the client reps and their providers (3 companies)
* Liaise with the fisheries liaison representatives and guard vessels
* Ensure Contractual safety arrangements are in place and being used effectively using paper trails and client rep effort and reports.
* Manage the data flow between various parties to ensure absolute certainty and quality of the ultimate result, ensure solid and reliable paper trails for data flow.
* Vigorously control costs to clearly establish payments to the various contractors are contractually correct.
* Attend to all contract documentation including the preparation of payment certificates and variation orders as required by the clients package manager
* Provide up to date, validated information in respect of all operations and contract matters to the Package Manager


The Contract Engineer will have short periods on the vessel but the greater majority of his time will be onshore.

The Contract Engineer will be expected to work from the offices in the mid lands for some part of the working week, the remaining time will be spent either at his own office or contractor`s offices around the UK as the need arise for face to face meetings. Location is not of prime importance, communications with E.ON/contractors and optimum use of time is.


Skills & experience:

* A heavy engineering background with a history of analytical and disciplined processes of management.
* Extensive contract management experience working remotely from the place of operations
* Delivery of contract tendering, contract quantity management, contract quality (small ``q``) of output/compliance and dispute engagement.
* Offshore background, cable installation, O&G, dredging, near shore construction, site investigations.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Database management experience
* Practical experience of heavy engineering or similar harsh and variable setting
* Experience with DP2 diving and ROV operations is preferred but not mandatory.
