ABOUT THE PROJECT
GTN Technical Staffing has an urgent need for a Sr. QA/BA opportunity in Irving, TX. Our client is feeling a deep sense of urgency and will begin conducting technical phone screens ASAP. The current team is sorely in need of an analyst that is more senior and can both pump out the work and mentor the more junior members. The Sr. QA Analyst will focus primarily on ensuring product quality. The Sr. QA Analyst is responsible for validating production features and functionality against requirement documents and functional specifications and for creating automated solutions to support this activity. The Sr. QA Analyst will play a key role in the software development life cycle.
JOB SUMMARY
This role involves all aspects of QA planning and execution, including but not limited to: creating Test Plans, Test Cases/Steps and Test Scripts for the different test phases (Functional, System Integration, and UAT); generating test data; executing said test cases/scripts; documenting issues/defects discovered during testing; perform preliminary investigation of the issues and document the analysis results sufficiently to facilitate the recreation of the defect by the development team. The QA Analyst will also work closely with the technical team to support them in their unit testing of custom-developed software and integration of various systems in the platform.
- Client Engagements
- Collect and maintain project documentation and ensure it complies with standards
- Propose and negotiate conceptual solutions in response to requirements
- Execute Functional test cases/steps on the new features; perform bug/defect validation, confirm that existing functionality and usability have not been negatively altered (from both a Black Box and gray box perspective); update documentation accordingly with results
- Generate and manage test data
- Load, transfer, quality check data files
- Execute test cases/steps; update documentation accordingly with results
- Detail documentation of defects to facilitate the recreation of the defect by the development team
- Escalate risks and issues to project leadership in accordance with best practices
- Learn and adhere to SDLC and QA best practices
- Provide level of effort estimates for testing tasks as needed
- Participate in testing post-mortems
- Communicate task results to team members; Actively engage with the project team
- Perform statistics gathering, comparative analysis, and trending
- Participate in the definition and implementation of standard QA processes, methodologies, and templates for use on client deliverables
- Provide input to best practices on test strategies, methods, and best practices
- A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Quality Assurance testing IT projects
- Must have experience in an ETL/Datawarehouse environment
- Extensive start-to-finish manual functional testing experience
- Should be proficient with the following skills:
- Understanding of and hands-on experience with automated testing tools. Worked with automation team to design tests and able to execution automation scripts
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- MS Office; specifically formulas and macros for Microsoft Office components (Excel and Access)
- Knowledge of QA Methodologies, tools and related techniques
- Written and verbal communications skills
- Time management
- Detail-oriented, able to multi-task, prioritize and able to quickly change priorities
