Security Engineer

Our client is seeking a Security Engineer to join the team, responsible for identifying vulnerabilities in information systems/applications and the threats to those systems; assess the degree of protective measures required and implement appropriate prtective solutions. Tasks
* Create, maintain and optimize the overall global process for Security Event Management and Log Management for IT infrastructure and IT Business Applications, with a major focus on databases..
* Acting as the technical expert for security log and event management, especially in the database area.
* Responsible for creation & execution of Operational activities
* Identify deficiencies and developing actions plans to address them.
* Gathering and reporting on Security Event Management and Log Management process
* Responsible for the development of training content

Operational Responsibilities
* The deployment, integration and configuration of Global Centralized Log Management tools and processes, in accordance with sound design and change management principles.
* Operate and maintain an enterprise-wide log Management process and tool deployed across multiple environments to gather, analyze and present information from network and security devices; identity and access management applications; vulnerability management and policy compliance tools; operating system, database and application logs; and external threat data.
* Make reasoned and rational decisions about the required actions and escalations when security incidents occur.
* Assess the process for opportunities to improve the efficiency of the process, then implement and deploy such efficiency improvements

Experience
* Information management, information technology, and information security fields, and a proven track record of accomplishment - 3 years
* Strong technical background and experience with databases is necessary, including MS-SQL 2008 and Oracle 11G; knowledge of and experience with a broad range of Operating Systems and applications is a plus, including in particular Linux SusE/Novell SLAS, CentOS, HPUX 11 and later and * Windows Server 2003 and later
* Experience with Log management tools preferred, with a strong preference for RSA Envision, Netwitness and Sentrigo Hedgehog.
* Broad knowledge of TCP/IP Networking protocols and products (such as Routers, Switches, Firewalls, load balancers, intrusion detection, DNS, web-content filtering, and so forth) is a very important plus, as is experience with vulnerability assessment and risk management

You must be able to make independent and binding determinations of whether requirements are being met by Global Operations, identify and evaluate appropriate external service providers, recommend the establishment or revision of information security policies based on new technology or benchmarking input, and ensure that information security programs are meeting stated objectives.

Education/Vocational Training
Bachelor's degree in information technology, science, or engineering, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree is a plus.
