(Ex: 7.00 pm to 8.00 am 1 hour break) or (7.00 pm to 7.30am 1/2 hour break)

Looking for upper level Windows server skills, with strong troubleshooting, Active Directory/SAN/networking/SQL/IIS/clustering/patching skills are definite plusses.

We are taking on the remaining upper level work, so we need the best quality Wintel skills you can find.

Job description

This position is located onsite in Dubuque, IA. No remote work is available.

IBM's Technical Services Delivery Center in downtown Dubuque, Iowa is seeking Technical Support Specialists responsible for providing support for problem and change tickets for Client Server support operations surrounding the Windows infrastructure. Incumbent assesses situation to determine problem facing the client. Problems are not routine or standardized and the creation of documentation explaining the solution to the problem is required. Responsible for implementing changes to the client's environment.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Support problem and change tickets for client Servers. This involves problem determination and implementation of changes to hardware and/or software. This position provides an intermediate level (Level 2) to high level (Level 3) of support. Tasks are not standardized and require independent thought and problem solving to resolve. Interaction with other teams is often required to solve issues.

Work to develop and write-up technical Root Cause Analysis documentation for problems and incidents. Develop action plans and drive their implementation to prevent in the future and benefit from lessons learned.

Work to standardize repeatable tasks and steps across multiple accounts within a team while providing coaching and mentoring to the junior team members. This may require creating documentation or scripts that can be used to solve the same problem in the future.

Team members participate once or more a day in cadence discussion on issues or challenges, and receive trouble-shooting input/advice from other team members. They may also discuss team performance trends and exchange information obtained while working with members of cross-pool teams.

In addition to the required skills, a top candidate will have:
Problem and Incident Management Experience along with Root Cause Analysis Experience
Server Application Troubleshooting Experience a plus - Applications includes: SQL, Sharepoint, etc.
VMWare Experience
Experience in Root Cause Analysis and appropriate technical documentation for RCAs
Strong Windows 2000, 2003 and 2008 Systems Administration Knowledge
Strong directional skills to help drive restoration solutions

Required
High School Diploma/GED
At least 1 year experience in Systems Administration within any of the following operating support platforms: Windows
At least 1 year experience in at least one or more of the following:a installing, troubleshooting, operating, testing, planning and configuring relevant technologies
English: Fluent

Preferred
Associate's Degree/College Diploma in Information Technology
At least 3 years experience in Systems Administration within any of the following operating support platforms: Windows
At least 3 years experience in at least one or more of the following:a installing, troubleshooting, operating, testing, planning and configuring relevant technologies
Basic knowledge in LEAN methodologies
Basic knowledge in Maximo tool
Certified in Systems Administration disciplines for an operating systems support platform
