Currently our client is a leading European energy provider who develops, constructs and maintains offshore wind parks. The Deputy Project Manager will play a key role in offshore marine construction of offshore wind farms. This person will also have to be fluent in German.

Our clients` project area for the North Sea wind farm covers around 60 square kilometres and is located some 90 kilometres northwest of the island of Borkum with a water depth of around 40 metres. The offshore technicians began installing 5 MW wind turbines and the offshore wind power station will produce a nominal capacity of 400 MW in the first phase.

Our clients` group consists out of several divisions such as Construction, Engineering, R&D and Logistics and is a technologically advanced player in the European market place as they design/develop, produce and roll out their own products (towers, foundations, turbines etc..) they deploy these products on the wind farms site utilising their own vessels and crews so everything is pretty much covered in house without influence of 3rd party.

The Deputy Project Manager (DPM) role is varied and it is essential that the PM has the capability and experience necessary to:

- Construction of wind farms (planning and coordinating the construction work)
- Establish, develop and manage the construction section within the project and liaise/support the Construction Managers
- Liaise with / Interface with Package Manager(s)


Tasks and Scope of Work / Main Responsibilities

- Manage construction sections
- Identify work packages within the construction section; coordinate the handling of these work packages in cooperation with the project and procurement.
- Assisting in offshore wind projects (work preparation, procurement); technical preparation of procurement processes considering commercial parameters.
- Time schedule and schedule control.
- Interdisciplinary cooperation with other sections, especially Design, Logistics and Development.
- Liaison with HSSE and QA.
- Bring and maintain accident figures at a level that is below average for this industry.
- Personnel management, appraisal interviews, training needs, personnel planning, contact person for personnel appointed to project.


Responsibility and Authorities

- Access to all technical, contractual and organisational information.
- Budget responsibility for the internal ``construction`` budget, technical literature, trainings, exhibitions, series of lectures, lessons learned presentations.
- Perform procurement within the above-mentioned budget with minimal administrative effort.


General Requirements

- Several years of professional experience in a leading position as site manager, senior site manager with personal and budget responsibility, and self-dependent execution of construction works.
- Professional experience in the offshore wind farm construction
